Just wanted to give you an update on Samson and how he's adapted to our family. He went for his 9 week exam on Monday and he was given a clean bill of health. His vet here in Conway was very impressed by him. Of course, all of Andrea's friends are jealous and love to comment on all the pictures Andrea posts on Facebook. Here are a few recent pictures I thought you'd like to see. You are welcome to use any of them if you'd like.

Forgive me for not hearing from me sooner! Been sooooo...busy being a new Mom!!! Abie (Hershi) and Sadie (Belle) absolutely fill our life. They are both doing fabulous, and we go back to the Vet on Friday to get check up, shots, etc Everyone there loves them. I have to ask...WHO taught them to come when you whistle? The reason I ask is because the other day we were in the back yard playing, they were playing with a ball and I whistled at them (which I don't do very well at all) and they came flying across the yard to me. Have done it several times now, with the same response...so I figured that came from you guys. I love it. They are so smart!, and are catching on to things so quickly. Thank You!!!!! We are so blessed to have found you. I have taken so many pictures, as soon as I get them on the computer I will send some to you so you can see what a wonderful job you guys did! The girls are wonderful! Absolutely 2 peas in a pod. (do have to say that Sadie (the yellow) is a bit more mischievious than Abie), but with both of them together...expect anything. How well you know what I am talking about. They complete our 'family', I tell everybody they take after me, we are all a mess!:) I am going to send you a picture (which I already should have done)... Hey Jessie!
We are all doing wonderful! Hondo is really doing great with the housebreaking, maybe one accident a week and it's usually our fault. lol We have a bottle tied to the front door and he has learned to bat it when he needs out! And also he loves the river, we've been walking him in the evenings, and if it's warm he just walks in and flops down. Also he is officially a river dog, we run alot of trot lines and the other night we figured we'd take him out on the boat for the first time, get him used to it for next spring. Well we are just trolling along and next thing I know he is in the water!!! I think he feel in rather then jumped but we know he can swim like a pro, acted like he'd been doing it forever. :) So we couldn't be more thrilled about the dog choice, honestly we were talking about that the other day how great of a pair we all our. We also got our AKC paperwork back and he's official and certified. On a side note the squiggly line that ran down one of your dogs back that you said some of them would have. Hondo has started to get that down the middle of his back, kind of zig-zag and little tougher hair feeling. :) Thanks for checking in I will try to get a good up to date pic and text it to you! Sarah

Gauge on the farm in Kentucky, between the rain! He's really growing, probably 45lbs or close to that. He's learned to swim and we'll work on bumpers when his teeth come in. I've picked up our German Shorthair, Tess, she was in training this winter, been hunted 3/4 times, still learning, but she's his new buddy. He has a hard time keeping up with her. I think they'll be a good pair! I'll send more pics thru the year. He's a really good pup. Smart and wants to learn.

Hi Jessie! I've been looking at your web page at the puppies and wish I could have several more. Gauge is doing great, we were shooting yesterday and he was sitting, sleeping right at my feet. Not gun shy at all!!!!! We were shooting trap and he would move with me. He is really a good dog. Smart, figures things out even though he's still a pup. I haven't weighed him recently, but I'm guessing 60 lbs. Did Summer have another litter? I spoke with my sister in law yesterday and she's interested in a pup in the future. Her kids are 2 and 3, but they LOVE Gauge. He lets them pull, push whatever, and he rolls over and wags his tail! Even at 6+ mos, nothing bothers him. You did a great job socializing him early, and I think he has that personality, which is why I was so impressed with him, and wanted to buy him. I love looking at your web page, the pups are sooo cute. I'll keep you posted on Gauge as he grows,

Hi Jessie! i realize I haven't written in a while, but Gauge is great! Dove season starts here 9/1, Thursday, I took the dogs down to the field after shooting, found a live bird, tossed it for Gauge, his first live bird, had him retrieve it, only a few feet,and went on finding a couple of others before returning home. Friday I missed, working, but Sat I got there late, they were already shooting but I stayed at the house with the dogs as it was 95+ and didn't want to work them in that heat, but Gauge had different ideas, as he went down to the field on his own, found a downed bird, and brought it to me, 100 yds or so. Once I realized what he was doing, I clapped and encouraged him to me and gave him a treat for the bird. He then went swimming in the pond, returned for another bird, swam and then another!! We were quite impressed with his drive and wanting to please. This was ALL on his own, as I thought it was too hot and didn't want a pup to have a bad experience. He's just great! Sweet, sweet dog. The main reason I'm emailing is I'm coming to Ft Smith in Nov and wondered if you wanted to see him, as I know you liked him. Betsy

He is retrieving great and has a wonderful temperament and personality. Bad Tail and Sadie are both gorgeous dogs. Bosco [ I named him Gus, hope you dont mind] is eating well and listens even better. He is a long legged and very, very athletic. He climbed up a stone wall the other day in search for his training bumper, I was very impressed. I am sure he would make you proud. I will try and send you some pictures soon. Here are some from facebook, I hope they work for you. The first picture is taken about a two weeks ago. The second one is about a month and the last two were right after the New Year.

How are you Mrs. Henderson? Gus and I are sitting here studying for my philosophy exam and I felt like I should write you this email telling you about the extraordinary weekend we had. You would of been very proud of your little puppy. He came on his first pheasant hunt with my friend, his boykin spaniel, and I. Gus was trying his best to keep up, doing great for just a little guy. I really only took him out to get him used to gunfire and live birds. But at the end of the day he truly made me proud. Two cock pheasants flushed in front of the boykin spaniel, my friend and I both fired, leaving one bird crippled and the other dropping into a pond. As the boykin sped off after the cripple, Gus, without orders or hesitation dove into the very cold water. He swam twenty yards out to the bird and began to try to grad hold of it around the chest. His little mouth was unable to handle the big bird, so he grabbed it by the wing and kind of dragged the thing through the water, all the way up the bank, across the grass, dropping the bird at my feet. I have never seen a prouder dog in my entire life. I wish I had gotten a picture of the way he was holding his head high, he knew he had done very well. I felt like you just had to hear about it. The real reason I am writing is to sing your praises once again about Hershey. I think I told you that I am fostering Labs in my home. Well, we have had several and Hershey has been great friends with all of them. The one we have currently is a mess. Her name is Molly and she is 4 and she had never left her backyard...ever. She had never worn a collar, been on a walk, been in the house - nothing. Her whole backside is bare and scarred from fleas. She is afraid of everything and I could go on and on and I would never get across how anxious this dog is. Anyway, after I had Molly a few days I introduced her to Hershey and of course Molly was all out of sorts. Hershey is so gentle and so sweet that she has won Molly over and those two do everything together. Hershey is still trying to get Molly to run and play but Molly just isn't ready. Today I looked down at them and Hershey had her front paw on Molly's leg as they laid there. It is bringing tears to my eyes thinking about how much Hershey has helped all these foster dogs, especially Molly. We adore Hershey and I thank goodness every day she is with our family. She has the best disposition of any dog on the planet :). She is an angel.
Thank you for all your hard work and love breeding your dogs. Honestly, we could NEVER have gotten a better dog than Hershey.

I am sure you've seen a million pictures of your dogs but I love sending them. The first one is Hersh lovin' her rawhide in the back yard. The second one was the first time she saw snow - we were up north over Christmas and she loved it.

sleeping, rides on her, touches her tail, and pulls her eyelids down
where the red part of the eye are showing. I keep telling our
daughter that if we were a dog we would've bit her already. Abby is
wonderful and she has brought joy to our family. We love her!

Here is a picture of our beloved "Chewy," named after Chewbacca in Star Wars. He is formerly known as "Oscar." This puppy is beyond words the most unbelievable, beautiful, sweet, smart little guy. We love him beyond words. He started puppy pre-k training today and the trainer was in awe of his temperment.
We lost our yellow lab, Jake, after nine years and were so lost for the past ten months without him. We also have a Black Lab, Bella, who has been very lost without her companion.
Chewy has brought love and laughter back into our lives, and after snubbing him for the first two weeks, Bella has let him into her heart and they snuggle and play all the time.
We love him so much and assure you he will have a lifetime of love and the best care.

We lost our yellow lab, Jake, after nine years and were so lost for the past ten months without him. We also have a Black Lab, Bella, who has been very lost without her companion.
Chewy has brought love and laughter back into our lives, and after snubbing him for the first two weeks, Bella has let him into her heart and they snuggle and play all the time.
We love him so much and assure you he will have a lifetime of love and the best care.

Hi! Thank you so much for checking on Chewy. He is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our "puppy" has had and continues to have the most amazing temperament. He has such a gentle spirit about him. Now don't get me wrong, he loves to play but he is just so gentle and so loving. We love our boy more than we could ever tell you. We LOVE LOVE LOVE him!!!! He is wonderful, and I could go on and on forever about him. He is spoiled rotten and loves to ride in the car to go pick up my kindergardener from school most days. It's getting warmer here in Florida, so I'm sure he will get his water legs soon. I've tried to get him in the pool, but he's still a little scared. He's our "big" baby!!! He is getting big fast. Last appointment he was 52 lbs. He is beautiful and people go nuts over him. He is a looker for sure. He hangs his head out of the window when I get my daughter and all the kids stop by and pet him as they walk by. He loves it and is so gentle with all of them. I'm telling you, I really could go on forever.
Thank you again for breeding the most amazing Chocolate Labrador. I've heard that chocolates can be unpredictable because you're pulling from the yellow and black lab, but our chocolate is nothing less than perfect!!

I am telling you his temperament has always and STILL is so calm and sweet and kind and loving. I love this dog more than I ever thought it was possible to love a dog. He is an old soul in a puppy's body. Now, he is still a pup and loves to play but this chocolate is so easy to please. What he wants more than anything is just to be loved on. He is a "leaner." He doesn't jump on anybody, but will go up to them and lean on them. It's so funny. He also thinks he's a cat and tries to go through everyone's legs. That can be a little tricky for us short people, as he gets bigger and bigger every day:))
There is no mistaking his love of the water. He scares me because I've often thought he will drown because he will swim in circles in the pool for hours. He won't get out!! The only problem with that is he drinks the water and then pees gallons for about a 12-hour period. We have a 6-foot gate surrounding our pool and he cannot access it unless we allow it. So I haven't been letting him swim because I literally have to physically remove him from the water which I cannot now do because he is so BIG. I have to figure out a way to let him swim in a safe manner. Our pool is saltwater, but still not good for him to drink the water, and the Knucklehead bites at the water and swallows gallons.
But I just want you to know what an angel this dog is and what a blessing he has been to our family. We love him more than we could ever tell you and he is spoiled ROTTEN. He goes to the groomers twice a month and they love him there. They go on and on about how good he is. He is a CHARMER and the most gorgeous lab I have ever seen.
WE LOVE CHEWY AND THANK YOU FOR BREEDING SUCH AN OUTSTANDING DOG WITH PHYSICAL BEAUTY AND THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE TEMPERAMENT!!!!!

Hello my name is Lt Jim Cabrera station out of Ft. Hood, TX (Killeen). Just want to say, Thanks. My former Platoon Sergeant was re-assigned to Alaska and I've been fortunate enough to inherit Remington. Remington is joyful and playful companion. Rem is always in the mood for fetching or a jog around the neighborhood. His natural instincts are apparent, while he is ever so curious of birds flying by. He's been with us for roughly 6 months and we're enjoying ever minute of it. He's keeps my wife company, while I am currently deployed to Iraq. I look forward to returning home to them and adding another Henderson lab to the family.
